PREP – Grades 1 -5 - Catechetical Theme – 2023-24
“WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD”
“God looked at everything he had made and He was very pleased.” (Gen. 1)
“The world and all that is in it belongs to God.” (Psalm 24)
This PREP year as “Earth-keepers” we hope to learn & live better ways in our daily lives to be appreciative caretakers of God’s creation so that it will be here for future generations. Pope Francis wrote a letter to you, to me & to everyone, entitled “ON CARE FOR OUR COMMON HOME”. He reminds us that God made this home for us & we share it with all people, all animals & all plants. We can make a difference by how we live our lives in this wonderful world in regards to pollution & waste, the air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat, especially the food that nature provides. It is very important for us to protect this world because God made it & it is good, but also because we need it for our livelihood & our enjoyment. Above all we are responsible to find life giving ways to share the blessings of this world equally with each other.
If we take care of creation, creation will take care of us!
Some challenges we will address this PREP Year as we care for our Common Home
Let’s think more about BETTER WAYS to live: ~practice moderation ~realize we can be happy without spending more money or owning more things ~enjoy time with friends & family, admire the beauty of nature, exercise more, feed the soul with art & music, read a good book, show gratefulness every day for the blessings of this wonderful world!
