Thursday, 10:30 AM - 6:30 PM
Adoration begins after the 10 AM Mass, and concludes with Benediction at 6:30 PM.
The Rite of Eucharistic Exposition and Benediction is an extension of the adoration of the Blessed Sacrament which occurs in every Mass: "Behold the Lamb of God, behold him who takes away the sins of the world. Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb." Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament flows from the sacrifice of the Mass and serves to deepen our hunger for Communion with Christ and the rest of the Church. The Rite concludes with the ordained minister blessing the faithful with the Blessed Sacrament. (USCCB website)
The devotion of Eucharistic Adoration, developed in the 13th Century, is prayer and time spent in the presence of the consecrated Eucharist. The consecrated Eucharist is normally reserved in the locked tabernacle. For adoration, the consecrated Eucharist is ‘exposed’ in a special gold monstrance and placed on the altar as an opportunity for us to extend our thanksgiving and communion with Jesus outside of the Mass.
We are blessed to be able to offer Eucharistic Adoration at our Parish on Thursdays of the year. All are welcome and encouraged to stop by to experience the true presence of Christ in this special way. It is like a ‘mini-retreat’ according to one adorer. Another said "Jesus looks at me, and I look at Jesus". Prayer books and rosaries are available for your use during adoration, or you are invited to just sit quietly, gazing at the Blessed Sacrament, taking in the grace and peace that comes from being with Christ.
All Adoration schedules are subject to change in the event of a funeral or other liturgical celebration.
