Welcome to Mrs. Fischer's First Grade Page!
I am currently enjoying my 12th year of teaching at IHM. This is my third year in first grade after nine wonderful years of teaching 3rd graders. I am one of the caretakers of our school library, co-chair of the yearly Scholastic Book Fair, and vocal coach for the Jr. High musical. Before joining the IHM community, I taught in the public school system in a number of different roles, and I was also blessed to spend many years as a full-time mother.
I grew up in Princeton, Indiana. I graduated from Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana with a B A. in Elementary Education and a concentration in Special Education. In 2017 I completed my Masters as Teacher Leader in Education from Georgetown College. My husband, Brian, and I have been members of IHM since 2001. I have three children-Olivia, Adam, and Anna. All three of them have attended IHM, and my older two have also gone on to attend a Catholic high school and university.
My hobbies are singing, attending plays, watching Indianapolis Colts football, and reading. I teach because I love kids and the challenge of helping each child to reach his or her full potential. All of the “greats” in other professions began as students with great teachers!
