Academic

Future Problem Solvers

Future Problem Solving (FPS) is an internationally recognized, award winning program that encourages critical thinking. FPS fosters investigation, ingenuity, creativity and cooperative learning. (KAAC.com). FPS is 5th thru 8th grade. It meets once a week. Students are invited to tryout based on teacher recommendation and being able to work in small groups. FPS is part of the Academic team.


Math Club

Mathematical Olympiads for Middle Schools provides opportunities for children to engage in creative problem solving activities while developing a child’s ability to reason, to be logical, to be resourceful, and occasionally to be ingenious. It is open to grades 6-8. We usually meet about every other week from October through March. Students will participate in practices and 5 competitions. Their scores are compared online with students from other schools that participate. All activities take place at IHM.

Leadership

CLC

Creating Leader Crew (CLC) is an afterschool club for students in grades 6-8. Our mission is to develop young Catholic leaders by providing them the guidance, skills and opportunities to serve our school, parish and community. Meetings are generally held twice a month with various service opportunities throughout the year. All students are welcome to join and members adhere to a high standard of conduct.

Previous CLC activities have included Blessing Backpacks for the homeless, Under the Tree Toy Drive for the Rose Garden Mission, raking leaves for Sr. Armella, visiting residents in a nursing home, and planning activities for Red Ribbon Week. Student Council


National Honor Society

To be chosen as a member of the IHM National Junior Honor Society, a student has to be a seventh or eighth grader that has been enrolled at IHM for at least one trimester.  The criteria determined by the National Headquarters is that each member should participate in some type of service project and maintain a 93% average for the year in each subject. We require at least 10 hours of group or individual service hours.  Selections are made in the early Fall of each year. Newsletter

Lego Club


Drama Club

Drama Club is open to all 6th-8th grade students.  Auditions for the Spring play production are usually held at the end of August; weekly Tuesday and Thursday after-school practices begin in early September.  Over the many years since the Drama Club began, our program has grown to be one of the strongest Middle School Drama programs in our area.  We hope you join in our rich performing arts heritage!  Visit our Facebook page.

Introducing our 2017 IHM Drama Club Production:  Aladdin Jr!!!!  We can't wait to perform this show for you in April 28-29-30th at the beautiful Notre Dame Academy Performing Arts Center. 

 


Art Club

The Heart to Heart Youth Choir is a program for youth in grades 6 through 8 that attend IHM school.  This program is to foster active involvement by the students in the Mass and  is a constant source of inspiration and challenges to the students. The Heart to Heart choir sings for school masses and at 12:30 mass on the first Sunday of each month.  We always welcome any instrumentalists as well as vocalists. They meet immediately after school, from 2:15 to 3:15 on Wednesdays in the church.

IHM Fun Run

Two fun runs take place at Boone Woods Soccer Field in Sept/Oct.   These races are open for students in grade 1-5.  All students are welcome to participate. The first race they get a gatorade at the finish line and after the second race they get a medal.  Information goes out in the School folder early Sept.

Ski Club

This program takes place at Perfect North Slopes.  The club is open to all IHM families and their friends.  Sign ups begin mid Oct. There are many different plans to chose from. Ski season runs from around mid November to mid March.
